Wellesley. The name reminds me of Wesley, which is my favourite boy’s name. Wellesley. Wesley. WELLESLEY. WESLEY. WELLESLEYWESLEY. I’m just a fan of the name.
Today, I went to Wellesley with my friend Sheila, who mentioned that there was a dessert cafe in that area that we should go to. Desserts + Leah = always a good time. So we ventured over there to go scope out the Just Desserts Cafe.
Don’t listen to Google. Just Desserts is NOT situated at 7 Isabella Street. When we went to 7 Isabella, we walked into some sort of fitness club.
Maybe it’s a sign.
No, but seriously, it’s at 555 Yonge. Maybe they moved or something, but they should really get on changing the address to avoid further confusion.
Yonge is one of the dirtier areas of downtown. I mean, it’s not awful, but compared to other places nearby (like Bay), it’s pretty gross. Regardless, you do see some pretty decent looking people walking down the street.
Like Sheila and I.

.... and this guy. I figured it would be alright to post his picture here because he's probably already a model or something.
So it took us a little longer than it should have to find the cafe. THANK HEAVENS FOR GOOGLE ANDROID PHONES AND THEIR GOOGLE MAPS APPLICATIONS. Seriously, I don’t know where I would be without the Google Maps application.
Anyway, Yonge is kind of dirty. However, there does appear to be some decent shopping over there, so I think I’ll probably end up going back once payday comes around. Stupid iPod. But yeah. A lot of the shops there are really touristy, with all these souvenenirs and things, which doesn’t really make sense, because why would a tourist want to go to Yonge Street?
Well, the Eaton Centre’s on Yonge. Okay, so I guess it kind of makes sense.
ANWYAY, back to Just Desserts.
You walk in and the first thing you notice is the Christmas decorations and 98.1 CHFI playing on the speaker system. All Christmas music, all the time. I’m down. This is the station my mom listens to.
We were literally the only customers.
The waiter seemed happy to see us. He actually seemed like a really sweet guy. He smiled and led us to some couches and then gave us…
THIS. THE MOST WONDERFUL MENU EVER.
SO. MANY. CAKES. DOSIJGSDOIGHOISDHGOISDHGOISDGJOISDG. THEY ALL LOOKED SO DELICIOUS.
I ended up getting a piece of Chocolate Therapy and Sheila got Cookies ‘n Cream Cheesecake.
Here’s a picture:
Please note the smiley face on Sheila’s plate. When I used to work at Licks, I would put smiley faces on peoples’ burgers with ketchup and mustard. Everything just tastes better when it has a smiley face.
I devoured the entire piece. And then a good quarter of Sheila’s piece. Once again, this rasies the question: HOW AM I NOT MORBIDLY OBESE?
… I can’t help myself. I’m a sucker for just about anything edible.
… no dirty jokes, please.
In all seriousness though, Just Desserts is just a really good place to go if you want to sit back, relax and talk. Sheila and I must have sat on those couches for at least an hour and a half talking about pretty much everything.
For $6+something cents (+ tax), the pieces of cake (and the adorable waiter) were definitely worth it. I want someone to take me there on a first date. Really, really badly.
WHICH REMINDS ME…
If there is a cute boy out there who:
- Will watch Titanic with me
- Will slow dance and not complain
- Likes Carcassonne, and
- Gives amazing hugs…
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, PLEASE FIND ME. Much thanks.
P.s. I’m pretty sure the cafe also has breakfast food. Just saying.
Update: OH, and kind of unrelated:

THIS IS NOT THE FOX & THE FIDDLE.
